Regarding WHEN Christ made payment for sins---here are three points:
1. Direct statement is made in---Revelation 13:8---we are told He was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world
All kinds of people attempt sleight of hand, by saying, "This means in principle.” Just ask them one question: where do you find those words "in principle" in the text? They will not be able to answer you.
2. Direct statement is made in---Hebrews 9:22---where we are told that without shedding of blood there is no remission (of sins).
All kinds of people, again, try to wrangle around this statement by saying things like, "Since God fully intended to send His Son, it was therefore guaranteed, and as a certainty. So certain in fact, that it was as though His blood was already shed." But again, they have altered the words of the text. It does not say anywhere in the verse,"as though it were shed.” It says very plainly, that without shed blood there is no remission. It really says what it says.
3. Direct statement is made in---Hebrews 4:3---where we are told that the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Here again, numerous people speak of the works finished in principle at the foundation of the world. Yet, once more, they have added to the wording of the verse. It does not say anywhere that the works were finished 'in principle'. As a matter of fact, how exactly can a work be finished in principle? Finished, or completed works require action. You cannot finish a theoretical work. It's not finished until it is indeed finished in actuality.
