Since we know that the river Jordan typifies hell, or the grave, or going through the wrath of God, and that the ark represents Christ, and that the Israelites represent God’s elect, and the land on the other side of Jordan pictures the kingdom of heaven, it has been pointed out that the ‘2000 cubits’ points to a timeline, or the space of years between Christ’s crossing of Jordan (in the tableau of 33 AD) and the elect who will follow “about” two thousand years (cubits) later:

Joshua 3:3 And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.

4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.

Evidence has been growing for the year 2033 AD, as a possible date for the end of the world and as the time when the elect of God would cross over into the new heaven and new earth (Canaan). But the question has been raised concerning the word ‘about’? 33 AD to 2033 AD is exactly two thousand years. If the reference to cubits is indeed pointing to years, and if God had 2000 years in mind, then why did He not say the space was to be 2000 cubits exactly? Why use the word ‘about’?

The fact that Jesus’ death on the cross in 33 AD was a demonstration, helps us to understand the answer to this question. In 33 AD Christ made manifest His death at the foundation of the world. His going through the Jordan (wrath of God) did take place in 33 AD.

As the Lord has opened up information to His people in the Day of Judgment, we have learned that the elect of God are making an appearance before the judgment seat of Christ. Basically, this appearance is like the elect going through Jordan (wrath of God) to reach the land on the other side (kingdom of heaven). The river Jordan was dried up when all Israel crossed about 2000 cubits behind the ark of God. None of the people of Israel got even a drop of water on them.

They crossed a river as on dry ground, because Christ paid the penalty in full for all of His people.

Likewise, as God’s elect make an appearance before the judgment seat at this time, they are not actually experiencing the wrath of God---it is a demonstration. They are making manifest their earlier appearance (in Christ) at the foundation of the world.

The elect began to appear before the judgment throne in the year 2011 AD. If correct, this manifestation will continue until 2033 AD, at which point it would complete.

But the entry into Jordan was ‘about 2000 cubits’ behind the ark. So too was the entry into the demonstration of the wrath of God, about 2000 years from the time Christ went to the cross. 33 AD to 2011 AD is 1978 years. It is about 2000 years. Again, if correct the demonstration will complete in a year (2033) that is exactly 2000 years from the cross. But the entry point into Jordan (Judgment Day) of 2011 allows for the word ‘about’ used in Joshua 3, verse 4.
