In Deuteronomy chapter 28, from verse 15 to the end of the chapter God pronounces the punishment that comes upon a disobedient people.In the very last verse of that chapter He says this:

Deuteronomy 28:68 And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

This is an astounding Bible verse. Because no matter where we look in the Bible-----we never find a time when the people of God were loaded onto ships and carried back to Egypt.

It did not happen during the often rebellious period of the Judges. And it did not happen during the often rebellious period of the kings ruling over Israel/Judah. Israel was carried away to Assyria but not with ships. And Judah was carried away to Babylon, but again no ships were involved.

So since there was never a time historically, when Israel was returned to Egypt by ships is the verse wrong? Is it somehow in error?

No. Absolutely not!

Spiritually, ships in the Bible represent churches. The shipwreck of Acts 27 is an excellent example of this. Egypt in the Bible represents bondage to sin and to Satan.

As people today desire to return to church (the ship) they are then transported back into bondage (Egypt).

In reading the Bible's account of the slaves that came out of the house of bondage (Egypt) it was always sadly amazing to me that these ‘freed’ Jews spoke of a desire to return to Egypt. I always thought who in their right minds would prefer to return to a cruel place of hard bondage rather than to live as free men?

And yet today, we have people doing the very same thing only in the spiritual realm. But in doing so, they are fulfilling God's Word in Deuteronomy 28:68.

God Himself is the One loading the unsaved ‘professed Christians’ that came out of the churches (Egypt) back on board the ship for return transportation to the house of bondage. And there no man (Christ) will redeem them.

Revelation 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
