Under the judgment of God, the churches lost sight of truth. Therefore, as the churches veered off course and followed outlandish doctrines, this was part of God's judgment upon them. That is, the fact that the churches were enamored with falling over backwards, speaking in tongues, holy laughter, etc., etc., etc., was in itself an evidence of God's wrath upon them. The more they went astray and away from the truth, the more obvious it became that God was actively judging the churches.
Again, compare what's happening in the world today. We see the world destroying the natural laws God put in place relating to marriage and even the established and basic laws of human sexuality concerning male and female roles. Further, we're seeing a growing boldness in the disregard of life in relationship to abortion. The fact that these things are happening is not signaling that God will judge the world—the fact that they are happening is an evidence that God IS judging the world.
The Hebrew word (#5771) translated as "iniquity," "mischief," and "sin," in the King James Bible, is also translated as "punishment." See:
Isaiah 13:11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity (#5771);
1 Kings 17:18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin (#5771) to remembrance, and to slay my son?
And,
Genesis 4:13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment (#5771) is greater than I can bear.
Cain was beginning to experience the judgment of God for the murder of his brother Abel. He declared that his "punishment" (same word often translated as “iniquity”) was greater than he could bear. So we see how God equates iniquity with punishment. The false and far out erroneous doctrines the churches developed and followed were sinful doctrines. Yet God used their own sins against them to bring to pass His spiritual judgment of desolation upon them.
Likewise, the laws being passed by the world are sinful laws. They are laws that go against the one true and supreme set of laws found in the Bible. Some might think the world is winning because it is setting up its own set of laws that contradict the laws of God found in the Bible. But that is not true. These laws, like the erroneous doctrines of the churches, are self-destructive laws.
They are laws that will bring more and more misery and death to the people of the world themselves. They are laws that take away kindness and peace and love and goodness. Leaving the world more impoverished than ever before of these blessings. The sins that reveal the world has lost sight of basic morality also show forth the extremely sorrowful news that God's wrath is presently being poured out upon them and they are experiencing His punishment for their transgressions against His holy law. Therefore, do not be angry at the people of the world for enacting and blindly rejoicing in these things—instead pity them for what has come upon them.
