During the 23-year Great Tribulation period (1988 through 2011), it was the corporate church who was vilified and shamed in the eyes of the world over and over again. Its spiritual nakedness was laid bare for all to see. This was because God was judging them (spiritually) and part of the judgment is to be made a shameful spectacle.
But now, and since May 21, 2011, notice the tremendous change in events. Each day it is some part of the world’s institutions that are laid bare and humiliated before all.
The news media's constant shameful failings are really not surprising once we understand that the news media is the mouthpiece for the world. It is the world's voice. As the news media is being exposed before all for lying and misrepresenting facts, it is a blow to the world's prestige.
During the Great Tribulation, it was the news media that publicly humiliated the churches and congregations which were called by God's name. God therefore is now repaying that tribulation upon them:
Jeremiah 50:14 Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD.
15 Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; AS SHE HATH DONE, DO UNTO HER.
Jeremiah 51:11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, THE VENGEANCE OF HIS TEMPLE.
2 Thessalonians 1:6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Revelation 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
