Here's an excerpt from a comment an atheist made in one of EBF's groups:
"You know the same science that has doubled your life expectancy, given us flight, etc. While you are of the group who believed that a serpent swallows the sun during an eclipse, when you believe in a supernatural reason for something happening you stop thinking about what really happened and we continue to be in the dark ages. One person with a microscope does more than a thousand people praying, get off your knees and join reality."
EBF response:
You really believe science has doubled our life expectancy? Hmmmn, then why did God write the following over 3,000 years ago:
Psalm 90:9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
I'll translate the old English language of threescore years and ten, and fourscore years—it means 70 or by reason of strength 80. So, God moved Moses to write Psalm 90 and Moses died in the year 1407 BC (over 3,400 years ago), and one of the things Moses wrote was that man's life expectancy would be 70 or perhaps 80 years of age.
Do you know the life expectancy for men and women today? You know with all this modern medicine and modern technology, and all these other wonderful things science has done for us,
I'm sure we're way beyond 70 or 80 years. Let me Google it, as of 2016:
For men in the U.S. life expectancy is: 78.69 years.
For women in the U.S. life expectancy is: 78.69 years
A little surprising since I thought women lived longer than men. But either way, the life expectancy is still within the boundaries established by God over 3,400 years ago.
